The Syrian migration crisis, with over 1 million refugees now in Lebanon, has created a series of stresses and tensions in an already fragile public health infrastructure. Leishmaniasis is profiled within this migrant population and Dima El Safadi outlines a public health research framework that looks to tackle this issue from a variety of angles, epidemiology, diagnostics, vector control, community engagement. Dr. El Safadi also speaks candidly about the types of partnerships that are needed in order to drive this ambitious programme forward.
